The bright yellow rods are especially noticeable in fall and winter, making this a useful variety for adding colour to the landscape and garden projects.

Hutchinsons Yellow is particularly well suited to living willow structures and wattle fencing, where its strong, vigorous growth can be put to good use. It can also be used for basketry, although it is not one of the finer basketry willows. The more slender rods can be used to add bright yellow colour accents to woven projects.

Regular coppicing encourages vigorous new growth and helps maintain the bright colour of the young stems.
